"Shaadi kab hogi?" is the most asked question in Indian astrology. Here is the method a careful astrologer follows - and why a single "your marriage will be in 2027" from an app isn't worth much without it.
1. The promise in the chart
- 7th house (marriage) and its lord: where is the lord, how strong, which planets sit in or aspect the 7th?
- Venus (karaka of marriage for everyone, and of the wife in a man's chart) and Jupiter (karaka of the husband in a woman's chart).
- The navamsa (D9) chart, used specifically for marriage.
- Delaying factors: Saturn on the 7th or its lord, Rahu/Ketu on the 1-7 axis, a weak or combust Venus, manglik status.
Delay is not denial: many charts with Saturn on the 7th marry a little later, often happily.
2. The dasha
Marriage usually comes in the dasha or antardasha of:
- the 7th lord, or a planet in the 7th;
- Venus, or Jupiter (for women);
- the lagna lord or a planet connected to the 7th or 2nd (family) or 11th (fulfilment of wishes);
- Rahu, which often brings sudden or unconventional matches.
3. The transit
The timing is triggered when Jupiter transits the 7th house, the 7th lord, Venus, or the lagna (or aspects them), and Saturn supports it. A "double transit" of Jupiter and Saturn on the 7th or its lord is a classic marker.
Jupiter is in Karka (Cancer) until 31 October 2026, then Simha (Leo), returning to Karka from late January to late June 2027, then Simha again until late November 2027. People with the 7th house or its lord in Karka or Simha (or aspected from there) often see marriage talks in this period.
4. Put together
A strong window is when the dasha points to marriage and Jupiter's transit activates the 7th. An astrologer gives a window ("between March 2027 and January 2028"), not a date.

- Use the window to actively meet people - astrology describes timing, not a substitute for effort.
- If delays show up, the traditional remedies are simple: Thursday fasts or Jupiter mantra for women, Friday and Venus for men, Gauri or Katyayani worship.
